But in order to make art freely and regularly and let that practice flow, one has to be free of the notion of "mistakes". Here are some pieces of wisdom I have learned over the years, which have let me be free to be an artist:
- There are NO mistakes in art -- none. Isn't that amazing?
- Whatever you perceive as a mistake can be fixed or worked with to make something much better than before
- Mistakes lead to knowledge and that knowledge leads to more freedom
Julia Cameron, author of "The Artist's Way", encourages us to make artist's dates with ourselves and just CREATE! Even if you don't take too much time, taking just a little time (as I did with this piece) to create can really improve your day! Have you taken time for creativity lately? Does the myth of "mistakes" keep you from creating?
